Aren't you on my site? Don't you know WHO I AM?!!!!
On a more serious note, let me introduce myself.
My name is Michael Ehrich, and I work in the Tech & Media space. I started my journey in the gaming industry after the company I initially worked for had to lay off every trainee; they had run out of funds and their plans simply hadn't paid off.
Luckily for me, a friend from school who worked at a gaming company brought me in, allowing me to complete my education and finish my training.
After spending quite some time in the gaming industry, I moved through several agencies before finally landing at a more special one.
The company was called SinnerSchrader at the time, and I stayed there much longer than I usually did. This was mostly because the people I worked with felt like family, and I truly enjoyed the spirit of the place.
After a while, I was nudged toward the challenge of leadership. I initially refused, but at some point, I decided to give it a shot. From there, I became responsible for the frontend department of the Frankfurt office, leading my team as well as the freelancers we brought in for our projects.
Leading people is a significant responsibility. At that time, I quickly realized it was also an opportunity—not only to help your team grow, but to grow yourself. Listening to my team, understanding their needs, and helping them improve was something I truly enjoyed, and I have kept that focus ever since.
I stayed for a couple of years but eventually left to freelance for a while. That was before I met my co-founder, Sam Sauer, and we decided to start Krekeny—a place where I still focus on helping others grow. We help our partners and clients navigate the sometimes crazy world of technology and design, finding solutions and experiences that make sense for them so they can achieve what they desire.
During my time in agencies, I always felt uneasy when solutions were sold just to make a ton of money, even when they clearly didn't match the client's needs and were never a good fit.
That—and the fact that Sam and I wanted to change the tech world so that technology serves people rather than just corporations—was the main reason we started our own agency. It has been a hell of a ride, but I would choose it time and time again for the opportunity to work with great people and help them succeed.
This blog is mainly to tell my story and help others understand who I am and where I come from.
